Written on 2/24/2024 During the first two days of a three day weekend, I accomplished something that I never have throughout a lifetime of birding. In a 24 hour period, I saw every single species of goose that is a possibility in the state of Utah. One of those species is pretty much guaranteed if you are anywhere near water; two were planned, and I traveled to see them; and the remaining two came as surprises.
Nice finds Carl. The Cackling Goose and the Ross's Goose are nice to see when they're mixed in with their respective largers cousins too.
We're starting to get more and more Canada Geese returning here in the Ottawa area. I missed out on the Snow Geese last Autumn when they flew south. Hoping to catch sight of some in the next few weeks as the fly back north across the border.
Awesome sightings and great birding. Hope to see a Greater White-fronted Goose someday.
I’ve seen three this winter, which is a lot more than normal. We’ll have to trade locations sometime; there’s a lot I’d love to see where you are.
Awe and wonder, it makes life worth living!!

I hope you’re able to spot some too! I can tell you they’re on their way :)
