Thank you for sharing this. I have always found birds marvelous medicine for my own anxiety, attending to their own lives with such beauty and intensity. This was a such cool reminder of that.
Cemeteries around my area are bird-rich too - possibly because they are irrigated and planted, thus rich in insects, cavities and fruit.
Beautiful piece Carl. Your line, “The upcoming migration was a moment in time that I could conceptualize, and get excited for, a time when life flourishes.” was very resonant to read.
Common or not, I love Robins!

Thanks, Martin! I’m so glad I can share my experiences with others. Keep watching.

Thank you, James. My favorite time of year. I’m glad that resonates with you.
Always nice to read a tribute to the common birds of our lives. They are often the gateway birds for introducing people to the joys of birding.
Wow, that was an amazing experience!
I love watching nature in cemeteries too (I was at one time employed to do wildlife surveys of cemeteries).
No matter where it is (even among the ones we miss daily who aren't w/us anymore) birds ALWAYS make the world a better place ✨️ ♥️!
Alive and glad to be birding is a mantra I tell myself every day
Beautifully written tribute to Robins and cemetery birding
This sounds like a memorable encounter, Carl. I like the cheery nature of American Robins as well.
